Soft synthetic upper
Nike has made several improvements to the Superfly 7 IC. While the upper of these shoes is still a synthetic material, the new version has a more streamlined design. Nike has also made the upper more flexible and balanced than previous generations. While the toe box is still soft, the midfoot is more rigid and doesn’t offer the same flexibility. The shoe also has less grip than its successors, despite having a vapor-posite upper.
Another improvement is the soft synthetic upper of the Mercurial Superfly 7 Academy. It offers a supportive feel around the ankle and a Dynamic Fit collar for added stability. The boot also has a 3/4-length foam midsole and a lightweight sock liner. In addition, the outsole is made of a rubber material with a multidirectional traction pattern.
The upper is a little bulkier than the Vapor, but the material does not feel cheap. It’s a softer material than Teijin Microfiber, a thin single-layered fabric. Although this material is comfortable, it’s not as stretchy as premium synthetics.
